West Lothian Council has now officially declared a Housing Emergency.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Sally Pattle spoke in support of the motion during a Council Executive meeting in May, but the West Lothian SNP group voted against it: another example proving that unless it's 'Westminster Bad', the SNP aren't interested in working collaboratively for the good of West Lothian.

Successive SNP administrations have stripped funding and resources from the Housing budget, while at the same time piling more responsibility and obligations on to local authorities, meaning most are unable to meet the demands. This is exactly what has happened in West Lothian.

Councillor Sally Pattle says:

"The failing SNP administration is like the Big Bad Wolf, huffing and puffing to little effect. Local authorities need adequate funding and support to deliver systemic change in Scottish housing. People deserve a secure roof over their heads, not more hot air. West Lothian Council has declared a Housing Emergency because the situation has become that desperate. We don't need empty rhetoric from the Scottish Government, we need adequate funding and practical solutions in place so that we can provide the necessary support to everyone who needs it."
