The Liberal Democrat candidate for the Broxburn, Uphall and Winchburgh by election on 1 December 2022 is Peter Clarke.

Peter Clarke grew up in Penicuik and has been a member of the Liberal Democrats since 2014. In May 2000 he moved to Broxburn which was a handy location for his then workplace at Edinburgh Airport. Peter has had experience of the supermarket retail sector, car rental as well as finance. He graduated from Stevenson College, Edinburgh in Photography in 2008 and alongside his studies he worked in health and social care. Initially he worked with adults with learning disabilities and worked with an Edinburgh based organisation for ten years. He moved on to working with the elderly based in the west of Glasgow but latterly was an area manager covering a wide geographic patch of Scotland.

More recently he left the health and social care sector to become a landscape gardener and currently works all over southeast Scotland.

Peter is passionate about improving public transport and infrastructure links and services for the ward as well as his desire to improve the Health and Social Care sector for staff as well as users of services.
