For the past 18 months West Lothian Council has been working on changing management structures across the community centre estate - 32 centres in all.

From the beginning of the exercise, it was clear that no one solution was going to work and management committees, centre managers and elected members have all been working furiously behind the scenes to try and find sustainable long-term solutions to keep these vital centres open for everyone they serve.

It has not been an easy journey, and there is still a lot of work to be completed, but the West Lothian Liberal Democrats remain committed to ensuring that every single community retains a common space.

Councillor Sally Pattle says:

“These centres provide a vital space for communities to come together. For many people, especially in our smaller communities such as Philpstoun, this is the last remaining place they can hold common events and therefore we must keep them open and make sure they are well-used.”
